Product review: Inika mineral blusher

inika mineral blusher.jpgMineral makeup has long been a well-kept secret among natural beauty afficionados, but now it's hitting the mainstream it's more important than ever to ensure you select a brand that's as natural and ethical as it says it is -- and I can start off by saying you won't have any of these worries where Inika mineral makeup is concerned.

Certified vegan, not tested on animals, GM-free and with reassuringly short ingredient lists, Inika is as pure as it claims to be, but how well does it work? I'm currently testing the Peach Puff Pot available at Edible Beauty for £15. Read on after the jump for my verdict...

More natural and vegan friendly sex toys on offer

vegansexual.jpgI'm curious to know where the sudden surge in vegan-friendly sex toys has come from. Could it be that a dairy-free diet promotes such health and vitality that our vegan friends are in a perpetual state of arousal? Or is it perhaps that most of these items have always been entirely cow-free but are only now starting to be labelled as such? Either way, it's good to know that you can enjoy a bit of hanky-panky without any livestock involved...

And it's no longer just your 'standard' lubricants and rubber johnnies that are going vegan these days either -- a quick glance through a popular online sex toy emporium brought up a vegan-friendly blindfold vegan-friendly cock rings and even a vegan-friendly ball gag (well, I guess if it's going on your mouth you do want to be sure).

On a more serious note, we are all concerned about chemicals we put into our bodies when they're in the form of food, so why should sex aids be any different? Follow the jump for a video on why the natural and vegan-friendly sex aid industry is growing!

Take an organic dip in Skinny Skinny bath salts

organic natural beauty skinny skinny bath salts.jpgRecently, I was sent a little bag of what looked like brown sugar. But the label instructed me to pop it in the bath, and with aching muscles having just lugged a heavy bag across our fair city, I was more than happy to comply.

So what is Skinny Skinny, and how does it aid your bathing experience? It's based on sea salt, which in itself is a fabulous skin healer and cleanser, supplemented with all-natural and 96% organic ingredients. And the company's green record is pretty impressive too...

Neal's Yard Remedies adds to Frankincence range

neals yard remedies.jpgNeals Yard Remedies has been in the business of providing organic, natrual beauty products for longer than most, with a back catalogue of skincare must-haves you can really trust to be kind to your skin and to the planet. Its range doesn't change fast (it doesn't have to), so I'm always excited to discover they've added a new product.

Or, as in this case, two! The award-winning frankincence range has now been supplemented with a hydrating cream and mist.

Review: Karine Jackson organic hair dye

karine jackson hair.jpg

Getting your hair done in a salon should be a relaxing experience. It requires friendly but not to talkative staff, a selection of up to date magazines, and of course a complimentary glass of champers. However, when you're offered a wine-list from the comfort of the chair you realize you've arrived somewhere really special. Enter the world of Karine Jackson, a finalist for the L'Oreal Colour Trophy and London Hairdresser of the year 2007. She's going to sort me out with a gorgeous colour today, using an Organic hair colour system. [Via Kiss & Makeup]

Natural beauty that's as easy as Pai

pai range.jpg
It's new, it's classy and it's been voted Grazia magazine's no.1 organic beauty product. So what's so great about Pai?

The list of attributes is pretty impressive: apart from being paraben-free (seemingly a must for all new beauty products at the moment), Pai skincare is handmade, certified organic by the Soil Association and free of artificial colours, fragrances, petrochemicals and phthalates. It's also made in the UK, so won't have been flown in from anywhere by the time it reaches your makeup bag. So if you're after a nice new moisturiser, lip balm or eye cream, why not give Pai a try? The range is available now at How on Earth.

Sooth sensitive skin with Geo salt and aloe blend

geo_organics_sea_salt.jpgSpeaking as someone with highly sensitive skin, I find salts and aloe vera to be two of the most soothing substances to bath in, but until now I've never found a product that combined the two together.

Step in Geo Organics Atlantic Sea Salt with Aloe Vera. Each box contains nothing but big flakes of sea salt with organically produced aloe vera, and a few sprinkles melt into a warm bath like a dream. If you have sore or sensitive skin I'd definitely recommend keeping a pot of this blend near the tub. A 250g pack costs £2.45 at Mariposa Alternative Bodycare.
