Until recently, it was hard enough to find any decent skincare products that were made from natural, organic and sustainable ingredients - and if you were a man you might as well have not bothered. But in the past year, a crop of male grooming products that care for the earth have emerged, and are proving more popular than anyone ever realised - even Mick Jagger is said to be a fan! Great for men with a green conscience, as well as those with allergies, green beauty is no longer just for girls.

Another area that's come on in leaps and bounds this year is eco-friendly footwear. It's worth remembering exactly how uninspiring and dowdy vegan and ethically produced footwear was even a couple of years ago, and when I started on this blog, labels like Terra Plana were just starting out with a limited range of styles at mostly prohibitive prices.
Now, thanks to the likes of Natalie Portman and a host of imaginative and forward-looking designers, sustainable shoes are all the rage. We had loads of new labels starting up this year, including Nina Dolcetti, whose handmade party shoes are a joy to behold, while Olsenhaus brought in its Jackson Pollock-esque shoes. Meanwhile, we've seen ethical sneaker brand Veja move to London.

If you've had cause to pop over there recently, you may have noticed that I've been diong a spot of writing for Shiny's wedding blog, Bridalwave. The site is very switched on to the fact that many couples are chosing to go green on their big day, and that's at least partly because its editor, Camilla Chafer, is very eco-minded herself. A former Hippyshopper contributor, Camilla has a good eye for the finer green and ethical things of this world, so I've invited her back today to share with us her Christmas wishlist.

Today's plea for green gifts comes from Kate Haines of ethical shopping directory Greenfinder. Kate's let her inner hippy run free with her gift choices, from holistic silk slippers to bags of fresh lavender, she'll be in for some good karma in 2009!

When I asked Mrs. Green from My Zero Waste what she wanted for Christmas, I knew she'd pick out some seriously sustainable and guilt-free gifts, but she's got a real eye for style, too. (OK, so one of her choices was a heating system, but she managed to indulge her more frivilous side for at least the first six!)
There are plenty of ideas here that would make ideal presents for friends and family if you're aiming at an ethical Christmas, but for extra green points, check out Mrs. Greens tips on eco-friendly giftwrap.

I've bored you all with my own wish-list, so thought it was only fair that others got the chance to share their wishes for a gift-filled Christmas, too. Today's list is from Sarah Woodhead, editor and founder of GreenMyStyle, and as you might have guessed, it's a very fashion-savvy

It's about this time of year that the Shiny Media editors give up on dropping subtle hints and start publishing lengthy, illustrated lists of what they most want for Christmas where everyone can see them. So, not wishing to miss out, I've decided that this year I'll follow suit.
