The quick sit: a green answer to surprise guests

quicksit2.jpgPaul Ridden writes: The doorbell rings. You answer and it's a bunch of your friends come for an unannounced visit. You show them to the front room but there aren't enough seats for everyone. The kitchen is way too small and as for the bedroom - they're just not those kind of friends! The sun is shining for a change so you could take the party into the garden but there is even less opportunity for bums on seats there. You can't risk losing your 'party host of the year' title by having people sit on the floor or standing around. What to do, what to do?!?

Fortunately help is at hand in the shape of the snappy-looking QuickSit portable seating solution. Made from 100% recycled polypropylene (which is collected from retailers and manufacturers in the UK), this fold up when not in use/unfold to use handy, portable stool is available now from a number of online UK green stores, including Love Eco and EcOutlet.

The Quick Sit will happily accommodate most posteriors, measuring a comfortable 460mm across and at 310mm high when constructed you won't need to expend too much energy sitting down or getting up. It comes with its own carrying handle for nifty portability and its super slim folded flat size (455mm by 365mm by 12mm) means you can easily slip it between your cookbooks in the kitchen until needed, or you can stow it away neatly in a cupboard or slip it out of sight in a draw. The strength and flexibility of the plastic material means that not only will your seat cope with anything the average British Summer can throw at it (from wet grass to dry sand to snowfall!), it is also built to last and can easily withstand thousands of foldings and unfoldings. If you're in business or if you're organising a special occasion you'll no doubt be interested to learn that the plastic material can also readily accept digital and screen printing - offering multiple branding or logo opportunities.

There are currently two types available for sale - a plain black number and one with a Chestnut tree leaf design, the latter being slightly more expensive. Of the online shops listed on the website, the Green Stationery Company comes in as the cheapest at £11.95 per unit. There's lots more information on the website including photos of the product in action, a construction diagram and contact information.

What a great concept I wish I had ten of them a few weeks ago when some old friends were at my house!
