Sony Ericsson's eco friendly Green Heart mobile

greenheart-thumb-200x150-91796.jpgIt's been a while since green gadgets have hit the headlines, but they're back with an eco-friendly bang as Sony Ericsson announce the launch to two new green phones, to be out later this year. They've gone back to basics with the handsets and have steered clear of solar panels and associated malarkey, and opted instead for recycled materials and environment friendly materials.

There will be two phones in the Green Heart range, and the C901 will be available at the end of this month. This phone features a 5 megapixel cybershot camera, xenon flash and is made from recycled plastic and solvent free paint. It will ship with the MH300 GreenHeart headset, made out of 100% recycled plastic and will also feature a low power charger, the EP300.

The second handset will be called the Naite, and will be out in Q3 this year, at a much lower spec of 2 megapixels, targeted at the PAYG market. It will offer video calling and a low power consumption charger. Both phones will be available on the 02 network.

The other major change we'll see will be trimmed down packaging, which will contain 60% less paper. You'll no longer get a manual included in the box, but an electronic version will be on the phone instead (as long as you can work out how to turn it on).
