Innocent-smoothies-002.jpg
There's been something of a wailing and a gnashing of teeth around the web today, as fans of Innocent drinks discovered that the brand they'd come to see as a sort of fruit-based best friend had in fact been consorting with the bad boys all along. Or at least recently, as it emerged that Coca cola has bought a £30m stake in the company.

Innocent now joins the likes of Green & Blacks, which was bought by Cadbury Schweppes, Pret a Manger by McDonalds and (perhaps most controversially) The Body Shop by L'Oreal. In all these cases, I can't help thinking we're reminded of how unwise it is to associatie a business too closely with our own values, as however 'ethical' a company may seem, it ultimately has to make money to survive. And perhaps it's better to have the fat cats on side if that's where the money to do all the good stuff Innocent does is to be found?

But how do you feel about the decision? Follow the jump for a poll.

These simple and stylish cordless phones are packed with features including an answer machine and 50 entry phone book - and most importantly they are more energy efficient - good for the environment and your pocket. All BT's phones now use new energy efficient power units, designed specifically to consume around half the power of previous units.

vanity-fair-cancelled.jpgVanity Fair has pulled its 'green' issue; the celeb-endorsed environment special it has published each spring for the past three years, prompting questions over whether the environment just isn't seen as trendy anymore.

Condé Nast, the magazine's publisher, has said in a statement that the environment has become so integral to its reporting that it is no longer appropriate to run a dedicated issue on the subject. But sceptics have argued that the economic crisis may have more to do with the decision, while the more cynical still point out that three years is a long lifespan for any 'trend' in a magazine primarily concerned with fashion.

office-pod.jpgIt's fair to say that if half as many people commuted to and from work each day, we'd halve the emissions that rush hour transport causes each day. Which is a lovely idea, if it weren't for the fact that working from home is not everybody's cup of tea. My main problem with working from home is that I live in a house and not an office, and have never really got on with this whole 'laptopping in your jim-jams' idea. Getting into work mode for many people involves scrubbing up nice and stepping into a professional environment, and my pad just isn't going to become that overnight.

If I had one of these bad-boys in the garden, however, I'd be inclinde to see it rather differently! The Office POD brings a whole new meaning to the idea of remote working as it comprises a rather sleek workspace in an all inclusive capsule. It's not actually available to buy- these pods are designed to be rented by employers as a cheaper alternative to office space.

gok-wan.jpgHow to look good naked is coming back to our screens later on in the year, so get ready for a fresh crop of 'bangers', bums, thighs and tummies - all enjoying their moment in the limelight thanks to the help and encouragement of stylist Gok Wan.

In the same spirit as many of his fashion contemporaries, Gok is coming over all green at the moment, and would love the chance to work his magic on a clean-living, eco counscious individual who's looking for a body confidence makeover.

femmecup.jpgI'm welll aware that I might be about to write the most 'TMI' post on hippyshopper ever, but in the spirit of investigative journalism, I'm going to give this a go, and to provide you with all the details you'll need if you're planning to try the latest incarnation of the menstrual cup.

Like the Mooncup (see our review here), Diva cup and various other 'cups' that probably didn't make it into ladies' loos common parlance, the Femmecup is a re-usable female hygeine product that is worn internally and obliterates the need for tampons or sanitary towels - along with the waste they produce. You can use the same Femmecup for many years, it can be worn during all manner of sporting activities and it poses a lower risk of the dreaded Toxic Shock Syndrome than tampons...

So how did I get on?

If you're offended by talk of menstruation, I suggest you don't follow the jump to find out!

london-g20-protest.jpgIf various media sources are to be believed, it's all 'kicking off' here in London as a motley crew of over 4,000 protesters are mobilising to rise against global capitalism amid preparations for the G20 summit in London. A more accurate description of the situation (so far) is that over in the City, parades of protesters are making their way to the Bank of Endland led by four "horseman of the apocalypse" representing the most pressing issues that participants want the G20 to address.

Championing the case for addressing climate chaos is a green horse, and while some of their comrades have been breaking windows, the green mob are apparently erecting 'hippy tents' in the heart of the city.
