Winners and losers in this weeks green news
Bjork
Iceland's craziest export has put together a rather brilliant documentary focusing on alternative energy sources and how they can be applied in her native country. Nattura-Summer 2008 is available to download on iTunes with all proceeds go towards the Nattura campaign for renewable energy research. With Iceland facing an economic as well as an environmental meltdown, this is now a very good cause to support!
Kanye West
OK so Kanye still has a long way to go in greening up his wardrobe after PETA included him in their 'worst dressed of 2008' list along with the likes of the "Trollsen" twins and Liz Hurley. But the message seems to have hit home with the rapper and wannabe fashion designer, who was spotted at Stella McCartney's Paris fashion show last week, apparently seeking advice from the designer on using animal-friendly fabrics.

Losers:
Peter Mandelson
Peter Mandelson was struck on Friday by a green protester who was clearly brought up on British Saturday morning kids TV in the 80s. 29-year old Leila Deen 'slimed' the Business Secretary and supporter of Heathrow's third runway programme on his way to a low-carbon industry summit - using green dyed custard she'd made herself.
Mandelson described the attack as an "adolescent protest" adding that "She was so busy throwing what seemed like green soup or something in my face that she failed to tell me what the protest was about". Deen quickly disabused Mandelson of his staged ignorance, idenfying herself as a member of Plane Stupid, and commented: "The only thing green about Peter Mandelson is the slime coursing through his veins. That he is trying to make political capital out of climate change ... is an insult to my generation. He is unelected and only represents business interests."
Plane Stupid
But Plane Stupid shouldn't bask in their green glory for too long, as some of their own members found themselves with egg on their face this week when respected eco writer Bibi Van der Zee chastised the organisation over their potentially dangers direct action at airports, where it was reported thay had come close to endangering the life of a sick child in need of an emergency transfer from Aberdeen airport.
