The greenest vac in the world is black

greenvac.pngElectrolux are set to launch the world's most eco-friendly vacuum cleaner this April in the UK, due to retail at £159.99. Called the Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green, part of what makes this vacuum so green is the fact that it is partly made out of shredded cars.

The body is made with 55% recycled PP, which saves two litres of crude oil and 80 litres of water per vacuum. As well as being made out of recycled materials it is also 90% recyclable itself. Comparing this new model with a vacuum made out of virgin plastics, there is a 90% reduction in energy consumption during manufacturing.

Not content with just being energy efficient during manufacturing, it is also energy efficient whilst it is being used, needing to use 33% less energy than its equivalents due to its 1259 Watt motor. And, whilst this is obvious in the name, it is also the quietest cleaner on the market.

Of the Electrolux Ultra Silencer Green, Elizabeth Famer, Producter Marketing Manager, Floorcare UK said: "If all 20 million vacuum cleaners sold annually in Europe were built the same way, we could save up to 251,000 barrels of oil. We could also save 1.6 billion cubic meters of water, which is equivalent to 19 minutes of flow over Niagara falls."
