The Chimney Balloon busts draughts and bills

chimney-balloon.jpgAfter a few uncomfortable weeks of watching TV in a hat and scarf, I recently tracked down the epic draught in my living room to the fireplace. When it's not playing host to a roaring log fire, the hearth becomes a vast, gaping chasm that lets in huge amounts of cold air.

It's crazy that we let this happen when we spend so much time making sure windows and doors are sealed up, so I was pleased to find an answer to my Siberian sitting room in the form of one of these balloon thingies.

The 'Chimney Balloon' sits in the gap between your fireplace and the outside world, and inflates to ensure no draughts find their way in. This cuts down on cold air in your living space considerably, with all the usual environmental and financial benefits.

You can pick one up from the Good Energy Shop from £19.99, but do ensure you measure the space you want it to sit in before ordering your balloon: I can't say I knew my 'chimney size' before I purchased mine, so the odds are you won't have those figures to hand either!

Do not buy!

Flimsy, expensive and impossible to install.

Wanted one for ages and so happy to find it, but am so dissapointed.

It's cheap, thin plastic punctured easily during installation so it kept on slowly defating and falling out from place.

After sending back for a repair, and spending hours trying to reinstall it i simply gave up and used a much cheaper exercise ball that worked much better.
