My perfect eco-friendly Valentine's Day
With Valentine's falling on a Saturday this year, there's no excuse not to pamper your lover silly, from breakfast 'till bedtime. Here's my idea of the perfect, earth-loving valentine's experience; you can pick and choose as much or as little as you like.
Breakfast in bed
Start the day with some buck's fizz using fairtrade, organic champagne and a soft and runny free-range boiled egg with dippers made from freshly-made bread. Finish off the meal with some delicious and wholesome muesli; Alara's fairtrade muesli, which is spiced with cinnamon and honey, is particularly scrummy.
Fair and floral
It should soon be about time for your delivery of a dozen fairtrade red roses to arrive: you can choose from loads of beautiful bouquets here.

Bubblicious...
You'll need a few hours to digest all that breakfast, so why not spend some time pampering each other with some luxury bath oil and scented candles? I particularly like Spezia Organics' seductive and sensual bath oil, which will work wonders for the romantic vibe and is certified 100% organic. I can also recommend Lola Rose's non-polluting, soy scented candles to help set the mood.
Green Grub
If you're lucky enough to live near a restaurant that takes its responsibility to the environment seriously, you might want to put in your reservation right now! Not only do these places tend to offer interesting and more seasonal menus than your average eaterie; they're also fascinating places to visit, making for a really memorable treat.
The Glasshouse in the New Forest has been praised for its commitment to sourcing local products to reduce food miles, while Bristol's Bordeaux Quay and London's Acorn House and its new sister restaurant Water House both operate on impressively sustainable principles, from the sourcing of the food to its disposal, from the making of the chairs you sit on and the energy used to light the restaurant. Why not delight your eco-conscious other half to a delicious meal at one such establishment.
If you're on a tight budget, however, don't dispair: cooking at home is always a green option if you keep and eye on the origin of what you buy, and there's even a new generation of eco friendly chippies opening their doors!
After dark...
I'm not normally one to impose on what any couple gets up to in the bedroom, but if you're hoping for a night to remember and want to introduce a bit of spice into your lovelife this Valentine's, using eco-friendly sex toys can be an amusing and strangely blameless way to get 'naughty'. Check out our selection here (warning: it includes a vegan-friendly blindfold vegan-friendly cock rings and even a vegan-friendly ball gag) and don't forget to take precautions: with ONE condoms, you'll be helping to fund HIV charities in Africa.
