It seems like Primark can't go for five minutes without becoming embroiled in another scandal over working conditions, and this weekend it emerged that it's not only the chain's offshore factories that are treating workers badly: its UK suppliers are pretty dodgy too.

One in particular, Manchester-based TNS knitwear, has been employing illegal immigrants paid around half the minimum wage to churn out Primark's trendy, throwaway garments. Conditions at the factory were described as "cramped and cold, in breach of health and safety regulations", while a journalist working undercover caught cash-in-hand payments being made for gruelling hours.
