Motorola tries to green up its act with new MOTO W233 Renew
Our techy friends over at Shiny Shiny reckon we're going to be seeing *a lot* of environmentally friendly gadgetry this year and to get the ball rolling, here's the MOTO W233 Renew from Motorola (could this move be a sign that they're trying to get out of the red zone in the Greenpeace guide to greener electronics, I wonder?)
So what's green about this phone? First, its outer casing is made from our old friend the PET bottle; a selling-point that might not immediately grab those seeking the must-have handset of the moment, but novelty seekers will be impressed to learn that this is the first time recycled bottles have been used in phone technology. And if being kind to the environment ranks pretty high in your books and getting "the quality you expect from a Motorola device while empowering you to reduce your carbon footprint" sounds befitting to your lifestyle, this could be a smart mobile option.

Motorola says it "will make social responsibility even more accessible to people everywhere". I don't know about that, especially as the design doesn't exactly stir up emotions of yearning, but it's a good effort on their behalf to bring us a phone that's not only eco-friendly, but a phone that's not an unappealing eyesore either.
And when you're ready to trade your eco-friendly phone for perhaps, a better and more supped up bit of mobile phone equipment, you can completely feel at ease knowing it won't end up on a trash heap somewhere - it's 100 percent recyclable. And you're provided with a postage-paid recycled envelope - so there's no excuses for throwing it in the bin when its reign as you mobile phone comes to an end (other than that you couldn't be bothered of course). Even the packaging is printed on 100 percent post-consumer recycled paper.
Specs are a bit sketchy, but we do now it boasts nine hours of talk time and comes packed with CrystalTalk technology. It'll be available in the US sometime during Q1, however there's no word on a UK release date just yet - or if there is in fact a UK launch date.
