As they're the only 100% renewable energy provider in the UK, I'm always interested to hear what Good Energy are up to and how they make their unique business model work. Their latest trick is a particularly cool one, and it might just succeed where the government has thus far failed in its attempt to encourage more home-generated energy.
In a scheme it's calling HotROCs, Good Energy has agreed to pay homeowners who choose to generate their own power (using solar panels or whatever other creative solutions they devise), meaning that those who switch to their tarif are investing in renewable energy on a very real, grass-roots level.
