Twiggy's Frock Exchange: the ultimate clothes swapping party guide

twiggy-frock-exchange.jpgLooking for some fun and uplifting entertainment tonight that might leave you with some useful life-skills? Twiggy's your woman then, as she'll be teaming up with Lauren Laverne for the first in a series of shows about clothes swapping parties tonight, as part of the BBC's 'Thread' initiative. Follow the jump to find out more about the show and where to find info on hosting the best clothes swap ever.

In this series and its accompanying online bumph, you'll learn not only how to put on a party that will get fashionista tongues wagging all over town, but also some simple yet effective techniques about how to customise clothes. In an age of throwaway fashion and cheapo items that we just can't wait to get rid of, this extra bit of creativity will make your parties stand out from the rest, and the entire experience a lot more interesting for everyone.

Expertise on the customising front comes from designer Paula Kirkwood, who's responsibly for many of the outstanding re-purposed items you'll find at TRAID Remade. Check out her skill on this video, where she turns a 'cringey cocktail dress' into a 'bang on trend' creation that would have clothes swappers fighting to bring home!

Twiggy's Frock Exchange is on at 8pm tonight on BBC 2

Hi I thought the show was fab. It gave a real insight how women can be so giving, supportive and complimentary to each other. I have run several swaps this year and that has been the most pleasing aspect. Our next Swapaholics Clothes Swap will be on Thursday 23rd October,2008,at 7.00pm. Juno Bar, 134-135 Shoreditch, London, E1 6JE. Entry is a fiver, you need to bring at least five items. more details at www.raejames-personalstylist.com
