Good Natured Fruit has great packaging idea

Comments (0)

goodnatfruitpack1_1.jpgGood Natured fruit already has a lot going for it, with all its produce coming from Scotland where the fruit is grown without the use of chemical pesticides (the farm's favourite pest-control weapon is the ladybird). But now, the young company has come up with a great new packaging solution that's far more sustainable than the usual plastic containers.

Good Natured has created a new fruit box from UK-sourced cardboard mill off-cuts. But to ensure you can get a good look at that lovely fruit before you buy, they use a printed recycled board sleeve featuring a clear film window.

Film, you say? Doesn't that sound a bit plasticky? Not so: although the window looks like clear plastic film, it is manufactured from the wood pulp of ethically sourced forests. The clear film is recoverable through the cardboard recycling waste stream and is also biodegradable and compostable. Packaging inks and dyes are vegetable based, helping reduce the environmental impact of the total pack. The entire pack can be recycled through the cardboard recycling waste stream, to which the majority of U.K. consumers have access. So next time you feel like a healthy snack or a fruit pie, think about trying out Good Natured fruit. You can get it at branches of Sainsbury's, ASDA and the Co-op.
