organic fortnight.gifI find it's always good to question your behaviour, particularly if it involves spending extra money, going out of your way to find products or attracting ridicule...not that buying organic is seen as in any way odd anymore: in fact, buying organic has become so much 'the norm' for many people that it does no harm to look at why you're doing it and whether it's worth the extra cost.

Follow the jump for the most persuasive reasons I've picked up in the past year or so, that remind me why I think buying organic is definitely the right thing to do.

First, check out our list of five reasons to buy organic. Tastier food, fewer chemicals to harm plantation workers and the environment are just two of the clear benefits we look into here.

Next, feast your eyes with the happy news that organic veg has been proven to have a higher antioxidant count than the intensively-farmed variety, making it better for your heart and general health. The study in question took place over ten years, and has been given New Scientist's stamp of approval.

Then read this fascinating article in the Indy which explodes several commonly-held organic myths. The Soil Association's Peter Melchett talks honestly about exactly what organic farming can and cannot do (it won't save the world by itself, but it is certainly better for wildlife and carries fewer potential health risks than conventional farming).

Great post!
