The internet is an amazing tool for bringing the effects of climate change home to those of us lucky to live in areas not currently being battered by its deadly effects. And what could be a clearer example of the world's rapidly-changing weather systems than catastrophic events like hurricane Katrina and its younger cousin, Gustav?
The BBC has a list here of places on the web you can go to track the hurricane's progress as it edges closer to the Southern US coast, having already ripped through Cuba, threatening a horrifying repeat of what happened three years ago. It's heartening to see that people are being given clear warnings on evacuating the area this time around, at that the elderly and infirm are being helped to safety. But will this sort of crisis soon become a regular occurence if we don't take more action against climate chaos soon?
