We've reviewed loads of mineral makeup brands recently, from the established names to the newcomers brought in by the current mineral trend. But few names are as long-established as Susan Posnick in this game, so I thought I'd give some of her products a try, starting with her Colorflo foundation and ginger blush.

So, having read our minerals 101 you'll probably be aware of a few basic facts by now: mineral makeup is (usually) powdery, is made from different types of ingredients to your usual slap, and is formulated to bring out your natural 'glow', or at least create the illusion of one.
Susan Posnick is one of the original founders of mineral makeup, having been in the business over 20 years, and her products don't come cheap: the Colorflo foundation I tried retails at around £45, and takes refills for a further £20 each.
The reasons for this become obvious as soon as you take the products out of the box: they are beautifully presented, and packaged in a way that makes their application effortless. This is a bonus in any makeup as far as I'm concerned, but particularly important if I'm using minerals: mineral foundation is so powdery that applying it can become an eye-watering sneeze-fest, with a lot of powder being lost in the process. The Colorflo prevents this wastage, with a special dispenser that you simply click to release the powder, and sweep it over your face with an in-built brush. No mess.
The dispenser also makes it easier to apply the foundation very evenly across the face, so you don't end up with clumps of powder and areas without enough (in honesty this has happened to me with every other brand I've tried). And the powder itself is light and subtle. It covered the redness the usually blights my skin without masking the colour in my cheeks, and did create the sought-after 'glow' that mineral brands always promise. It gave an all-over even finish, in just a few seconds of brushing.
So what's in the powder itself? Only nine ingredients, which includes the minerals themselves (including zine and titanium) waterproof SPF 26 and vitamins A and E.
I also tried Susan Posnick's ginger 'ColorMe' blush, which also comes in a cute little bottle with built-in mirror compact. This is a strong colour, and a little goes a very long way. Dab on a tiny amount and you'll have instant colour, that blends nicely with the foundation.
