We know all about eco kettles, but what about that other commonly used kitchen item that gets very hot and comes in handy when you fancy a quick break?
As part of its 'Ecolectric' range, Morphy Richards has brought out the 'eco toaster'; a Carbon Trust-certified gadget that uses 34% less energy than standard toasters. It does this with the help of a special lid that keeps the heat close to the bread without escaping too far outside the unit itself.

Could that also be the world's first mouse-proof toaster?! If so, I might get one! Have an intermittent problem with mice getting into my flat and found mouse droppings in my toaster earlier this week which was gross. They got into another toaster a couple of years back and chewed the wires, so I had to bin it, which was a complete waste of a food toaster. Can you close the lid without having the toaster on? May have to find a very ungreen way to get rid of the mice if they don't leave soon!
I'm also in the market for a mouse-proof toaster.
Can someone tell us whether you can close the doors on the top of this without it being switched on?
And any ideas how mouse-proof the crumb-tray might be?
I am also looking for a mouse proof toaster. If you can close the lid while not in use this would be ideal. If not, why is no one able to design a toaster that addresses the common problem of mice?
