Super charge your work with the solar table

solar table.jpgI'm getting the impression that in the future, it will be illegal to sell furniture without a bank of solar panels installed. Fortunately, companies like Sun Table have got ahead of the game and have now put their solar charged work desk concept on the market.

So, if you've got a spare £1,100, you may never need to plug in your laptop again.

Read on to find out how it does its thing

The table charges up in about four hours of bright sun exposure (there's a hinge so you can angle it properly if you need to) then provides a steady 12 volts of energy for four hours. That equals 156 Watt / hours; enough to run a laptop or portable TV. It also has regular power sockets that you can plug your gadgets into, can be used outdoors, is easy to disassemble and even recycle.

The only things it won't charge are your fridge, heater or air conditioning uint: appliances to heat or cool things tend to be too energy-intensive for small solar panel systems.

That's brilliant. Though I suspect that not everyone wants to work outside. Especially on really sunny days when you can get quite a glare on the laptop screen.

I also wonder if perhaps laptop manufacturers installing solar panels on the case might end this industry quite quickly.

Richard, you can work at night too if you want. Plus it charges more than just laptops. Brilliant.
