How to save heat, money and the planet without leaving the house

radiatorbooster_small.jpgEven talking about central heating use in August feels wrong, but why not prepare for the big switch-on the Autumn by ensuring your ratiators are as energy efficient as possible? The first and simplest way to do this is of course the tinfoil trick, but if you want to go a step further, you could think about installing one of these smart radiator booster gizmos...

Read on to find out how it works...

The Radiator Booster (£14.99 from Ecotopia) could prove to be a great investment this winter, as its makers claim it'll save you 10% on energy use and bills. All you need do is plug it in, place it behind your radiator as below, and bask in warmth as two 12V electric fans suck warm air out from behind the radiator, pushing it into the room more efficiently, hence the term 'booster'.

Had never even heard of the "Radiator Booster", but I'm going to order one right NOW !!!
I just hope it actually "does as it says on the tin", cause if it does and it saves me 10% on my heating bill, then for me that's a saving of at least 140 - 170 quid every year. Well worth the initial outlay of 14.99.

Hey Graeme

I really hope it works out for you! This does sound like it makes a sizeable difference if the blurb is to be believed, so I'd love to hear back from you on how you find it. Speak again when the temperature plummets? ;-)

Nice principle, but works much better if the thing has some intelligence built in. I used Jaga DBE (dynamic boost effect) in my house. Works a treat and almost silent too. www.jaga.co.uk
