GREEN CHALLENGES: leftover food week day 2
I've chosen a great week to scrutinise my diet, what with a family health crisis over the weekend that's had me hospital-hopping all over the South East, and a house move at the end of the week thrown in for good measure. But not one to be put off by the sort of life changes that even calm, stable types can't deal with, I have continued in my no waste quest with mixed results.
The problem has mostly been the sheer amount of takeaways that have been involved, i.e. every meal I've had since Monday...
Having managed to make the pizza last at the start of the week, I found myself without much of an appetite at lunch on Tuesday, so ate only half of my lentil dahl from the delectable Food For Thought. 'Aha!' I thought, 'I can have it later'. But of course plans aren't things that happen to everyone, and at 8pm I realised I was in a pub eating a cheese ploughmans (none of which was wasted, I hasten to add) while the dahl remained untouched.
But fear not: the dahl is still in my possession, and I intend to eat it at lunchtime. The only worry being that I forgot to remove it from my bag and chill it overnight. Normally, it would be keeping the rubbish company by now, but I am reminding myself that dahl is full of garlic, which Rachelle from My Zero Waste tells me is a great preservative. So it's cooling down in the office fridge now and I will be braving it at lunchtime.
See, I told you this was a challenge for me!

:D :D good luck! I know you will live to tell the tale (and you'll enjoy your lunch no doubt).
You're doing great :) Think about the landfill, all the people who cannot afford to eat some days and what you are doing for the environment. Then picture your bank balance increasing ;)
