Eco-friendly SimpleTech [re]drive reduces your CO2 emissions by 475lbs!
It's the little things that make all the difference. This is supposedly the most green, resource-conscious external hard drive on the market.
What features does it have, you may ask, to be so bold about its environmental worth? Well, pretty much everything you'd expect. It is made, of course, from naturally-grown bamboo, and recyclable aluminium - which according to the press release is 'the most recycled metal on the planet'. Must be all those coke cans.
The drive automatically turns on and off with with your computer, amongst various other power-saving devices, which could save 'approximately 475 lbs of carbon dioxide emissions over the life of the drive', which sounds rather impressive.
As for the tech specs, it features a Turbo USB 2.0 interface, which is up to 25% faster than USB 2.0 - though 'up to' in a press release is always slightly suspicious - and is also compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 should you require.
And for both PC and Mac users, it's plug n' play. Yay!
