Oxfam's new look is 'bang on trend'
To most of us green types, charity shops are already a way of life: lovely, affordable treasure-troves of eclectic, 'pre-loved' fashion that will occasionally throw up something we treasure forever. To most people, however, they are still seen as stinking dens of dowdiness, selling off moth eaten castoffs, plucked from the wardrobes of dead old ladies.
These preconceptions are, presumably, the reason why Oxfam has just spent megabucks on a major re-brand. It's just designated three of its London stores 'eco fashion headquarters', and given them a slick new boutiquey look that's anything but drab.

Behind those shiny window panes will be brand new garments by the likes of People Tree, Stella McCartney and Junky Styling. Donated items will also be allowed in, but only if they're top quality and carry exclusive labels. You'll also find unique pieces made by a team of London College of Fashion students, who were asked to 're-invent' items found in Oxfam's 'normal' stores and to turn them into something special.
