Continuing on my quest for the perfect electric city runaround, I'm quite excited by the latest leccy motor to hit UK streets. The MyCar is made by NICE, and will cost as little as £8.995 when it goes on sale in the autumn.
Looking at the car, you might pick up on a fun, continental sort of vibe. That's because it's the work of Italian design house Guigiaro, who've made it look downright cute. Read on after the jump to find out what's under that perfect little bonnet...

The MyCar is designed exclusively for low-emission city hops, so it's a two-seater with space for a bit of luggage both under the bonnet and in the boot. As well as the obvious environmental benefits, NICE's new baby is bound to appeal to those motorists currently freaking out about the credit crunch. Running costs are very low -- roughly one fifteenth compared to a conventional petrol or diesel model, and depending on the electricity tariff used to charge the vehicle, owners will pay around 2p per mile. It'll only do 40 mph, but let's face it -- that's all you need in a city. Charging time is six to eight hours for around 40 miles of travel.
Another cost-saving aspect of the car is that it'll be exempt from areas where congestion charging is in place, with parking concessions in some cities, too. So it sounds like a fantastic deal for anyone wanting to get around town cheaply and greenly. And best of all, those chunky tyres and alloy wheels, the soft top roof and MP3 player dock all help to ensure that it won't feel like driving a milk float.
If you'd like to see the MyCar for yourself, it's on display at the British International Motor Show all this week.

I think the time may have finally come for electric cars but I don't think it is cars like this that are going to revolutionise the industry. It is cars like the Lightning GT and Tesla which will make the difference, yes they are niche sports cars but it finnally shows electric cars don't have to be milk floats on wheels, if people see what these cars can do they may consider electric cars as everyday transport. Then we just ahev to sort out where we get the electicity from!
This is a good posting, I was wondering if I could use this write-up on my website, I will link it back to your website though. If this is a problem please let me know and I will take it down right away
