Friends of the Earth couple take tube to wedding

wedding_on_the_tube.jpgOne of the main challenges of an eco wedding is how to avoid clocking up C02 en route to the ceremony. You could opt for a green limo, but newlyweds Robert Gray and Stefanie Schmiedel went one step further and took their entire bridal party with them on a tube ride from Dollis Hill to their wedding at Marylebone registry office this weekend.

Bride Stefanie, whose dress was made from reusable material, explained: 'It is important for both of us to have an environmentally friendly wedding. I have been encouraging my relatives to travel over from Germany by Eurostar or by coach, as opposed to flying the short distance.'

Her husband Robert Gray added: "We didn't feel that we needed a stretch limo to get to their register office when we have got an Oyster card and the Tube". Fortunately for the happy couple, the journey was not disrupted by the Oyster card problems that also took place this weekend...
