Fight of the Foaming Cleansers: Philosophy's Purity High Foaming Cleanser vs Madara Purifying Floral Foam

foamyfight copy.jpgEnthralled by the wave of super-foamy, SLS-free, organic cleansers out there, Abi and I choose two of the most promising to put to the test. We pitched cult beauty favourite Philosophy's Purity High Foaming Cleanser against newcomer Madara's Purifying Floral Foam. Who will win? Read on to find out!

Emily Says:
After living with both cleansers, I have to admit its' really hard to choose the better one! Both wash off easily, leaving your skin feeling clean and fresh without any tightness. Both dissolve non-waterproof makeup with ease - although I had to cleanse twice to get rid of my rather heavy foundation. But that's fine as I generally have to double cleanse anyway.

In the end for me it comes down to a choice between scent and price. I actually prefer Madara's faint floral scent to Philosophy's lemony-lavender one. Which surprised me because I adore lemon and lavender! Also, (and this is not conclusive) I suspect Madara cleaned my skin more thoroughly. Plus, when it comes down to price, Madara is £10 for 150ml and Philosophy is £17 for 178ml (6 oz). So for me, Madara wins this battle!

Abi says:

As Emily says, this one was indeed a toughie. For me, it always comes down to how well a product agrees with my rapidly drying out 30-something skin, but in this case, both left me feeling clean without being utterly stripped of moisture. In terms of scent, both are pleasantly floral, but I did find Philosophy's to be a bit 'fresher' -- perhaps a good choice for a hot day.

Both products removed my mascara very efficiently, and the claims to foaminess were well founded. So which is it to be? In all honesty, I think Madara wins, being better value for money, and coming in a smaller, more portable bottle. But only just! I'd recommend either of these products to anyone who wants a thorough, skin-friendly green clean.

Madara's cleanser is avaiable on Lovelula, while Philosophy's will be available on HQhair.
