From a user's perspective, LG currently make some of the coolest and best looking monitors around, so I was pleased to hear that its latest model is also extremely energy-efficient. In fact, it's being billed as the worlds 'most eco friendly'.
The Flatron W2252TE (is that l33t speak for something?) is a 22" widescreen LCD monitor, which runs on a 45% reduction (40W) in power consumption compared with earlier models. And LG has promised that this is only the start of things to come...
"We are committed to expanding our 'green' monitor portfolio with products that either equal or better the energy saving provided by the W2252TE", said a spokeswoman at the launch of the monitor today.
It seems that this is the very least electronics companies could be doing to reduce their products' impact, and with the sheer amount of time many of us spend glued to our PCs, I'm glad to see that many are starting the greening-up process by reducing energy consumption. Now, let's see what they can do to cut down on packaging and toxic materials lurking within the products!
