Shop at Ethical Superstore to help cyclone victims

burma cyclone.jpgI was pleased to hear that one of my favourite fairtrade and eco-friendly online stores, Ethical Superstore, has pledged to donate a portion of its sales to cyclone victims in Burma this week.

For every £10 you spend on fairtrade products, Ethical Superstore will donate £1 to the Disasters Emergency Committee Myanmar (Burma) Cyclone Appeal. So whether it's a new bag, a solar charger or some summer clothes you're after, why not choose Ethical Superstore this time around, and know you're helping people hit by one of the worst natural disasters we've witnessed this century. So whether or not you've already donated to the Burma appeal, I think this is a great way to incorporate some much-needed generosity into your daily life.

The campaign is also intended to raise awareness of how Fairtrade can help rebuild disaster-hit areas. "Once the camera crews and journalists have returned home, the battle to build a new future will go on for thousands of people in places devastated by disaster or war," states Ethical Superstore.

Andy Redfern, co-founder of Ethical Superstore said: "We felt it was important to lead by example and by offering to donate £1 for every £10 spent on Fairtrade products from Ethical Superstore feel this is a good way of doing just that. Once the news coverage stops, disaster survivors have to rebuild their lives. Fairtrade organisations are there to help people create sustainable livelihoods and work their way out of poverty."
