Could glo-sticks save the planet?
GlowPaint, a company until now concerned primarily with the needs of ravers and cyber-goths, has announced that it has a new light-emitting product that could help save the planet as it is self-fuelling and completely non-toxic.
Called 'Litroenergy', its newest innovation will glow in the dark for an estimated 15 years (as opposed to the usual 15 minutes of a glo-stick) and requires no re-charging throughout its entire lifespan. The Klaxons would not approve.
From the pictures I've seen, I'm not sure all our lighting needs could ever be satisfied by this eerie green light, but it's perhaps a step in an interesting direction. According to the company: "This has potential to save billions in energy costs world-wide. Litroenergy surpasses all known available lighting options for cost/durability/reliability and safety." Their products are expected to be used to replace other forms of safety, emergency and novelty lighting duties normally performed by glow sticks, LEDs and other light sources.
