Stella gets greener with bigger organic range

stella mccartney2.jpgShe already is a great pioneer of ethical fashion, as a vegetarian she refuses to use fur and leather in her collections, so it comes as little surprise that Stella McCartney wants to continue her green efforts by expanding her Eco-Collection.

Barneys in New York tapped the Brit designer last autumn to create an all-organic range, and now McCartney has decided to add more pieces as well as bringing the collection back to London. Woot for us! The Stella McCartney Eco-Collection will launch this coming June at Harvey Nichols and at her flagship store on Bruton Street.

"I always wanted to go beyond the one store," she said. "Eco-friendly fashion is something I've always felt strongly about. You have to create a demand so the client base [for organic clothing] will grow."

The collection, which now boasts a solid 20 pieces, features tunics, knitwear, oversized coats and slouchy suits in a palette of earthy browns, pale pinks and dusty taupe.

Ruling out any chance of expanding her eco range even further to include accessories and underwear, McCartney added: "We've been doing organic for years in my own collection, in my lingerie and with the Adidas collaboration. We touch on it across the board. I think it's a bit more sincere to do that. It's part and parcel for us as a brand."
