Sagem Launches 'Green' ECO Set Top Boxes

5183_old-fashioned_television_set.jpgIf you can't bear the thought of missing out on this summer's Big Brother live coverage, but want to help save the environment then Sagem reackons that one of its new Freeview boxes could be the gadget for you.

The ITD58NG and ITD59NG Eco Set Top Boxes have been given Energy Saving Trust recommendation, so we don't only have Sagem's word for it that these are greener than your average 'box'. Both models provide connection to over 30 Freeview channels, with a power consumption of less than 5 watts while in operation and less than 2 watts in standby mode -- that's even less energy consumed than Sky's 3 watt standby goal for 2010 as part of its highly praised 'bigger picture' initiative.
