Could cassettes be making a comeback?
Cassettes never entirely went away for some of us, but many have discarded their old tapes in favour of smaller CDs and invisible MP3s, leaving a mountain of plastic in their wake. Now, some inventive new designs are incorporating cassettes into new technology, giving them a use and making them cool again.
Contexture Design is doing just that. The company started off looking further back into the tech-waste continuum, with a limited number of iPod cases made from 45 rpm records. These sold out quickly, but now, you can buy iPod nano cases made from old cassette tapes.
By storing your iPod in one of these cases, you can show off your passion for music and save cassette tapes from facing the same death most old technology faces - an eternity in landfill hell. About half are already sold out, so hurry up and get your sweet tune protector, available online. [Via Ecofabulous]
