Smencils: recycled, sweet-smelling pencils

Creating a wooden shell to hold a sliver of graphite seems a bit of a waste of resources, so why not use bits of tree that have already been around the block? Smencils are made out of tightly compacted recycled paper; not only that but the absorbent qualities of the replacement material are used to full effect by pre-soaking the paper in a sweet scent.

Flavours like Orange, Chocolate and Watermelon are proving popular already, although sadly Toasted Marshmallow has apparently been discontinued. It looks like they might come in plastic "Freshness" tubes judging by the photo, which would be a bit counter-productive given the emphasis on recycling, but the home Smencil kit does look like fun. The fundraising kits, where you can sell Smencils for a $1 to raise money for the cause of your choice, are also a nice touch.
