Rapanui: simple style for true greens

rapanui.jpgClothes shopping is one of the hardest things to do for those with a conscience. If you're not tempted to forget your ethics by the bargain prices of most high street stores, you'll have a hard time finding items that are genuinely 'green' -- and that's if you can even afford them.

Rapanui is one label that leaves no stone unturned when it comes to sustainable methods, and having been founded by two 'surfer dude' brothers, there's no scrimping on style either. But what's so good about Rapanui is its embracing of so-called 'convergence cotton', a new trend in organic farming. The basic concept is regeneration; a farm that has used agro chemicals – cotton or otherwise is used to manufacture organic cotton.

The cotton is grown using organic methods but is grown in the soil left by the previous farmer. After three years yield of cotton has been grown, harvested, and processed, the soil is free of any chemical residue left. The farm then continues to work as an organic cotton farm.

Sounds like a great idea, and you can benefit from one of the first companies to trial this method if you check out what Rapanui have on offer.
