It's hard to believe that this year marks only the fourth season of London Fashion Week's Estethica, which presents the best in the growing field of ethical fashion. The ethical showcase has become such an important part of the event that it's hard to remember a time when ethical labels were almost unknown at LFW, yet it's only been a couple of years since they didn't get a look-in at all.
All that has changed with Estethica. To qualify for a place in the exhibition, labels must adhere to a strict set of criteria that includes ethical trading, ecologically sound fabrics, use of organic materials and recycling.
At the A/W 08/09 event, a number of well-established names are appearing: Ciel, Katharine Hamnett, From Somewhere and Beyond Skin to mention but a few. Newcomers include Green Knickers and Mark Liu--whose fabulous recycled couture is pictured above.
