Barcode Trashcan makes recycling a breeze, removes lazy excuses

barcode_trashcan.jpg

For some reason, people seem to think recycling is complicated. Perhaps it's because some packaging isn't clearly marked. You can educate people and hope that they listen and that everyone stops filling up landfills with recyclables. Or you can develop concept designs like this and try to encourage companies to use technology that makes recycling so easy there's not even a slight excuse.

The Barcode Trashcan by Woo Seok Park would scan barcodes for information on the material content of the packaging, and then open the correct lid. No more trying to work out if a plastic tub is recyclable or not - if it is, the lid opens. Simple as. Hopefully going-green-o-phobia will cure itself without the need for this, but it's a nice idea anyway.
