Now Weight Watchers goes green

weight%20watchers.jpgI'm quite possibly the only member of my office who hasn't been on a diet of any sort this month, so it was only thanks to one of rapidly disappearing colleagues that I caught this one: Weight Watchers, the famous slimming institution is 'going green'.

This put all sorts of crazy ideas in my head about what this might mean. Cars running on the fat from liposuction 'victims', perhaps? special low-carbon diets to reduce your footprint? But the reality, of course, is far less exciting.

What it is, in fact, doing is helping raise funds for the British Heart Foundation (BHF) by recycling old mobile phones. Weight Watchers leaders will be handing out freepost envelopes at classes to send the phones for recycling, and members can claim their own by sending an email here.

Good to see another organisation getting behind the mobile phone mountain problem, and with slimming such a popular 'sport', I'm sure this will be a good market for the recycling cause to target!
