Untamed vintage from Liz Saintsing

lizsaintsing.jpgLast week we had animals and insects designing furniture, and this week, their forms are appearing all over luggage. So what's going on here?

The bags pictured right are the work of Liz Saintsing, who finds vintage bags, hat boxes and suitcases in flea markets, before re-conditioning them with her unique, eccentric style in her San Fransisco workshop, using hand screen printing techniques. This is an example of recycling at its best, making better then new items from discarded junk. Plus it taps into what looks to be a big trend this season, of animal patterns and prints crawling all over your stuff. Don't like creepy crawlies? There are some beautiful bird and fish prints here too. [Via Sprig]
