Man lives in own rubbish for an entire year, then blogs about it

save%20you%20trash.jpgSaveyourtrash chronicles the amazing story of a man who decided not to throw anything away for a whole year. Describing himself as someone who 'cares deeply about the planet', the unnamed blogger embarked on the project at the end of 2006, stuffing everything he would normally have thrown away into his closet.

The aim of all this was to educate people about how much they throw away, how much it is possible to keep hold of without having to send it to landfill and also to set the benchmarks for a new project this year, to create as little waste as possible. But how did he live with all that rubbish?

Following a set of rules our blogger was not living in rotting filth because he removed all organic waste ('garbage') for composting, allowing only the non-organic remains ('trash') to share the house with him. It seems he got quite attached to some of it, with a page on his favourite trash.

Crazy as it may seem, I think this is a fantastic and brave thing to have done, as just looking at the pictures on the site immediately makes it hit home just how much I threw away in 2007, how it would not have been physically possible to share my space with it, and how there is something quite inherently wrong about that. Good luck with cutting back in 2008!
