Eco dating sites: don't let being a 'green' single mak you blue...
There are dating sites for almost every social group these days, so it comes as no real surprise that the latest fad in online match-making should be specially designed to get eco-warriors together for truly eco-'friendly' nights out! Here's a look at a few of them...
Ideal Bite lists a number of green dating sites, but gets off to a shocking start when it patronisingly informs new recruits that 'your Ideal hemp-wearing hiker-boy or vegan vixen is just a few clicks away'. Hmph!
But there are rich pickings here for the lonely green, including Green Passions, a free online dating & social networking community site specifically for Green Singles, with a focus on the environment.
Vegetarian passions is a good site for those who don't want to have to subsidise a partner's meat-eating habits in restaurants or snog anyone who's just devoured a bloody steak. It's also free (which is becoming a rarity these days) and has a sister site, Vegan Passions for those who want to meet sexy vegans.
Earth Wise Singles is for the real hardcore hippy contingent and promises to match you with 'friends of mother earth.' This one isn't entirely free, but it does allow you a free trial and, hey, you might find the flower-child of your dreams...

Veggie Valentines Evening
Animal Aid is organising our first ever Valentines event for vegetarians and vegans. It will be a fabulous night out whether you’re looking for love or like-minded friends - or simply a great night out with your friends or loved one.
Leicester University's The Lounge will be the venue, with its stylish, modern décor and relaxed atmosphere providing the ideal setting. We'll have a DJ there to host the evening, spinning tunes from the '70s to the present day and some fun games to break the ice. There will be a free glass of champagne when you arrive and goodies, including Redwood and Beanie's food and Booja Booja truffles, throughout the night, as well as great prizes to be won. And there will be a licensed bar, of course.
Animal Aid intends to play matchmaker, make some vegetarians and vegans very happy, and at the same time raise funds for our vital vegetarian and vegan campaigns.
Saturday 9th February 2008
The Lounge, Leicester University
7-11pm
Tickets £10 in advance from Animal Aid
