New 'green homes' telephone service for Londoners is launched
Ever wanted a bit of eco-friendly advice when you're in the middle of a DIY job or wondered how best to save energy on a really cold day? Do you live in an old Victorian house with leaky windows you want to sort out, but don't know where to look? A new scheme from the Mayor of London will soon be helping out residents in the capital with all these problems and more, with the launch of a new telephone service dealing with eco-enquiries.
The 'green homes' service will be free to call, giving Londoners easy access to advice on how to reduce carbon emissions from their lifestyle and save money on energy bills. And it's not just another London-centric scheme leaving others out unfairly: sixty per cent of London’s housing was built before 1945, compared to 40 per cent nationally so it is less energy efficient than the UK average. Details on how to access the service are after the jump.
The website gives you all the basics on reducing your carbon footprint at home and includes interactive sections such as a carbon calculator, and advise on what grants are available to make changes
The free telephone helpline is on 0800 512012 for fone-to-one, personalised advice from experienced staff on how to make your home ‘green’
