Ethical & green gifts

Green Christmas #7: Green and ethical gifts for him. Gadgets, booze and discounts!

christmas%20gifts%20for%20men.jpgMen's presents are always the toughest to find, aren't they? I've got all my female relatives' and friend's presents already wrapped and ready to go, but there's still those pesky boys to think about. But once I started looking, I was soon brimming with ideas and with a bit of luck, our roundup of green and ethical gifts for men will help you out too. Follow the jump for some great gift ideas and exclusive hippyshopper discounts that will show your Dad, brother or other half how much you care - both for him, and for the planet too.

Skincare
Lots of guys love their cosmetics, but getting the packaging right is important...and one gift set that does this perfectly is the stylish 'Gentleman's Night Box' from Willow Organics. The 100% natural grooming products included in the set are a black rice soap, organic face and body wash and organic moisturising aftershave balm, in spicy citrus and cedarwood. The smart gift box (which Willow dilligently suggests you re-use as a container for keys, cufflinks, watches and other male accoutrements) is made from recycled and biodegradable material.

male%20organics.jpgAlternatively, Male organics is the place to go for an even wider selection of natural skincare for men. There's a really wide range of prices, so you'll find something here whatever your budget. And to help you out even more, the website is offering a 10% discount for hippyshopper readers until 18th December. So place your order now with the code hippyshopper1 for some fantastic value luxury skincare goodies.

For the man who likes a drink...

I've given these recycled Grolsch goblets as gifts before, and they always go down a treat. You can pick them up at Nigel's Eco Store for £11.99 or at Firebox, where you'll also find a whole load of fun and jokey eco gifts. Why not complete the present with a few bottles of unusual, tasty organic beer? There's a great selection at RealAle.com where you can either mix-and-match interesting bottles or buy a crate. And if beer isn't your man's number one choice, a favourite here at hippyshopper is Westons Cider and Perry, which sells all sorts of tasty organic booze from the West Country.

Winter outerwear
Scarves, hats and socks are always a popular choice, but they needn't be dull with the selection I've seen from green and ethical suppliers this year. I love howies' bright-coloured 'Birdie' gloves. They're warm, funky and for added comedy value - the middle-finger is a different colour than all the others! There are matching hats and scarves, too. howies is, in my opinion, the best place to go for menswear so you might also want to take a look at their other giftable items like this tough-looking recycled tyre belt.

Eco Gadgets
Any one of a windup radio, torch or MP3 player would make a fantastic present for anyone who doesn't already own one, so all of these come recommended for blokes this Christmas. We'll be covering these in more detail along with Shiny Shiny later in the week, so if the man in your life is a green gadget-freak, watch this space for suggestions!

I can recommend the recycled beer bottle glasses - I bought some for my brother's birthday. There's also I think a "Sol" variety available :)
