Ben and Jerry's Climate Change College goes virtual
You may have heard about how a group of intrepid young eco-warriors won a unique opportunity to travel to the arctic to see the effects of climate change for themselves, and come back ambassadors of Ben and Jerry's Climate Change College.
Eight more have been chosen to journey to the frozen North in 2008, but for those less adventurous souls who would still like to bone up on climate change and what we can do to slow it down, there is a new, online college where you can work through a series of modules culminating in your own certificate once you've reached full eco-expert status.
Ben and Jerry’s made a commitment to greenness when they put themselves on a low-carbon diet back in 2002. Since then they’ve introduced green energy at their factories, invested in energy efficiency measures and in the US they’ve reduced the amount of energy it takes to make a tub by 32%. And for what they can’t reduce, Ben & Jerry’s have invested in carbon offsets, investing in clean energy projects in developing countries.
