Would you clean up an oil spill...with your hair?
Apparently, that's what 'hippies' in San Francisco are doing to help mop up spilt oil on their local beaches. You'll be relieved to hear that they are using hair that's been removed from heads first (there's an ample supply from the area's many salons), then weaving it into doormat-sized 'pads' that work like giant sponges.
And that's not all. The mats are packed with super absorbent mushrooms (and let's face it, hippies would know all about those) that turn them into a rich compost after use. You can watch the entire process in the video below! [Via Gizmodo]
