Walkit.com launches option to avoid busy roads
Walkit.com has a new handy function to try: it allows you to select the 'least busy' routes while plotting their journey through the online planner for pedestrians, which should hopefully reduce the chances of getting flattened by a juggernaut while using leg-power to get from A to B.
The site will let you chose from ‘direct’ – the shortest route between the two points, or ‘less busy’ - a route which tries to avoid busy (in a vehicle traffic sense) streets, and tries to favour routes through parks, along rivers, by canals etc. In other words, if you've got time to take the scenic route, you can let the planner know. Magic!
Now, if walkit really want to get with the spirit of the times, I suggest they take notice of popular facebook group 'I secretly want to punch slow walking people in the back of the head. I can only assume that the 647,369 people who joined this friendly community would be avidly interested in a tool that helps you avoid people. Can it be that far off?
