Victoria's (guilty) secret revealed
Victoria's Secret, for the benefit of those who don't hang round lingerie stores, is an 'American retailer of lingerie and beauty products'. A cursory glance over its site reveals the prices to be mostly on the cheap side, and snarky fem-blog Jezebel may have just found out why.
The site claims that workers in Jordan making Victoria's Secret bikinis are paid an appalling four cents per bikini: 'Workers are allowed just 3.3 minutes to sew each $14 Victoria's Secret women's bikini, for which they are paid four cents. The workers' wages amount to less than 3/10ths of one percent of the $14 retail price of the Victoria's Secret bikini.'
It seems we can't set foot onto the high street without hearing stories of worker exploitation but you can't really buy your pants from a charity shop can you?! Thankfully the lovely people at Huffington Post who originally posted this story have got contact details for Leslie Wexner, the CEO of Limited Brands who put out Victoria's Secret.
