David Beckam gives generously to Californian fire victims
Looks like David Beckham is having to find new ways to court popularity in his new homeland now his footballing skills aren't quite up to what they used to be (miaw!)
The soccer sensation has taken part in a match organised to help victims of the recent fires in Southern California. Becks' appearance yesterday was a significant boost for the fundraiser, bringing in over $100,000 for the appeal. The fires, thought to be the worst in 10 years, forced hundreds of thousands from their homes last month.
“It’s nice to be in that position and play out there and raise a certain amount of money,” said a modest Beckham, yesterday. That 'certain' amount will now go to the American Red Cross and The Salvation Army. Good for you, Becks! [Via Ecorazzi]
