Barney's New York (that's Carrie Bradshaw's favourite retail getaway to some of us) is embracing the green face of Christmas (I can't get used to this 'holiday' stuff) in a big way this year, with a series of eco-themed window displays that remind customers that going green can be fun.
Creative Director Simon Doonan, wary of the "earnest and preachy" image of the green movement has introduced Rudolph the Recycling Reindeer, and scenes from the Twelve Green Days of Christmas ("three solar panels, two tons of tofu and a Prius in a pear tree") in the shop fronts, while sales of designer items by Fendi, Marc Jacob's and Edun will give a donation to environmental charities. Limited edition 'green' items will also appear, including this Goyard grocery bag ($310), made of 100% recyclable canvas.
