Cow power for computers
It makes a pleasant change to see cows being hailed as a solution to climate change, rather than just being reprimanded for their flatulence.
A team near Mumbai, India, has taken the idea of sacred cows to a new level, creating what is thought to be the world's first cow-powered laptop generator, using a specially designed 'bovine battery'. A dynamo taken from an old Fiat has been put into use, which is constantly kept in motion by the area's plentiful supply of cows. Could putting cows to use in this way potentially offset their own greenhouse contributions?
Either way, I'm not sure this Is this a fair and ethical use of livestock. But it's got to be better than turning them into hamburgers...
