Chairs that look like squashed practice golf balls always grab my attention, particularly when they're made of recycled plastic. The pOrOus chair, by designers daisuke nagatomo d and Minnie Jan is moulded from refabricated polyester, and also includes a socket which can hold various electrical plug-ins.
In the designers' own words, 'the versatility of a traditional chair is maximized, and the interaction between a person and a piece of furniture has [been] upgraded with technology.'. And there's not much more I can add to that, other than that it was shortlisted for a recent design award. Nice to see more designers thinking ethically, and also making their work bright and colourful (I'm sure I'd lose all my small change in them though).
