Designer chairs meet recycled plastic in one glorious holy vision

porouschair.jpgChairs that look like squashed practice golf balls always grab my attention, particularly when they're made of recycled plastic. The pOrOus chair, by designers daisuke nagatomo d and Minnie Jan is moulded from refabricated polyester, and also includes a socket which can hold various electrical plug-ins.

In the designers' own words, 'the versatility of a traditional chair is maximized, and the interaction between a person and a piece of furniture has [been] upgraded with technology.'. And there's not much more I can add to that, other than that it was shortlisted for a recent design award. Nice to see more designers thinking ethically, and also making their work bright and colourful (I'm sure I'd lose all my small change in them though).
